It's crazy to think that I've been here exactly for 5 months today. So much has happened this past five months, it's thrilling that I get 5 more. It's like I get to restart my exchange again. This weekend I'm want to buy a discount card for the train in hopes to travel more this second half of the year. We have a two week vacation after next week and I don't have anything specific planned so I want to travel and see more of beautiful France. :)
Yesterday, I went to a handball match that some of my friends were playing in. It was a match between Berthelot and Branley. They are the two main lycées in Châtellerault and rivals. My host dad asked me about going a derby between Berthelot and Branley. I thought maybe the schools had a horseback riding team. Turns out they don't. Apparently when there is a sports game between two rivals it's called a "derby." However, a "derby" in french is not the name for a horse race. I guess in English you can technically use "derby" in the same sense but I've personally never heard of this word being used other than for a horse race.
Berthelot is in red and Branley is in blue
This game determined the championship for the department so it was a serious "derby".
Berthelot about to score!
Janina was the guardian (goalie) for Berthelot. She plays handball back in Germany and is super good!
Of course, Berthelot won! It was close... 20-19.
Today I finished at noon because two of my professors were absent. It was a relaxed day to say the least.Unfortunately, I don't have much to report about this past week. It's been pretty uneventful.
Here's some music videos of everyone's favorite french techno artist, Yelle! Amusez-bien!
"Je veux te voir" avec Yelle
(I want to see you)
Sorry in advance! Her videos are always interesting...
"Ce jeu" avec Yelle
(This game)
"Tektonic" or "À cause des garçons" avec Yelle
(Because of the boys)
C'est tout.
